INDIAN OCEAN ROOTS
The dance group Indian Ocean Roots was born from a meeting with Peter Tho, the creator of the Afrofest Festival in Toronto, where they met one night at the Gladstone during an African concert. After seeing Arfina dance, Peter asked her to perform for the festival. She accepted the offer in condition of dancing her traditional dances as they remain vastly unknown to the Canadian public at large. The Region of the Indian Ocean wasn’t even initially represented in the flyer as African; it has now been an adventure of 6 years and counting.
